If you are interested in challenging computer vision conditions, and if you have an excellent background in math and programming, we are happy to collaborate with you and/or to host German or international PostDocs or PhD students in general (coming with their own funding). Please note that we cannot pay for your stay or salary unless you are applying for an official position advertisement. However, you might want to have a look at some scholarship options (before applying for the scholarship, contact us first):

Interested international or German PostDocs (or soon-to-be-finished PhD students) can apply in the Walter Benjamin Programme of the German Research Foundation.

PostDocs can also apply for a PostDoctoral Humboldt-Fellowship: or a EU Marie Curie Fellowship (MSCA) . These fellowship let you define your own project and get your own funding if you have a good track record (e.g. excellent publications). They are typically very competitive and require you to spend significant time on the proposal preparation. In particular MSCA does not want you to focus solely on research, but requires you to invest signficant time into the proposal for sketching plans for training, communication, impact, knowledge transfer, open science and many other aspects. 

We collaborate with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research here in Kiel in the MarDATA programme. This Helmholtz Graduate School advertises fully funded PhD positions located between ocean research and computer science each year, typically in late summer. If interested, you have to apply through the MarDATA website.

If you are located at one of the 9 European Sea-EU universities (Cadiz, Brest, Kiel, Gdansk, Split, Malta, Algarve, Naples, NORD) check out funding opportunities via the Sea-EU website for travel grants, visits or exchange for a thesis for BSc, MSc or PhD students or PostDocs. 

If you dont have an idea for funding yet, you might check the scholarship database of the German Academic Exchange Service for other options (and also many national programs like US Fulbright exist).
